The Short Story

At times a story ends before its quite begun. This is one of them. I will keep it brief as none of us have quite recovered from it . Remembering is painful.

This little kitten had been abandoned by its mother for some inexplicable reason. Since there was nobody to take care of him we decided to bring him home. He was absolutely zero size though its eyes were open. One of our mother cats had lost one of her babies and we thought that it was possible that she would take care of him. Not being a fairy tale it didn’t happen that way. We had a whole lot who inspected the new entry but no takers. One can never predict. In the past we have had a kitten who the other cats really fought for!

Idle curiosity

The dogs- Chutux and Turbo were certainly more favourably disposed than the cats.

Chutux filled in as a mother to the best of her ability. Zenda loved snuggling up to Chutux though it meant him getting totally wet. Chutx’s tongue was as big as the kitten and she made a thorough job with her licks.

Zenda ate, slept, grew for two weeks. He learnt to scale up the walls of the cage. He learnt to walk across the room with his belly no longer touching the ground. He began growing fur on his legs- the very initial stage of the ‘cute’ stage of kittens. He began responding to sounds and become more oriented in his movements. And then one morning he was no more
